Halifax LV994 damaged in the air, returned to Leeming airfield.
On the night of 15th / 16th August 1944 the crew of this 4 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to lay mines at La Rochelle and took off from Leeming airfield at 21.58hrs. They released their mines in the release are from 9,000 feet at 01.47hrs. Flak damaged the aeroplane and rudder control was severely damaged. Despite the damage the crew returned to Leeming and landed at 04.49hrs.
