Halifax LV993 damaged in the air, returned to Leeming airfield.
During the morning of 25th June 1944 the crew of this 429 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb a target at Gorenflos and took off from Leeming airfield at 06.50hrs. They released their bomb load onto target markers from 12,600 feet at 09.00hrs. While over the Abbeville / Oisement area the aircraft was slightly damaged by flak bursts but despite the damage the crew returned to Leeming and landed at 10.56hrs.

Many of this crew were later posted to 405 Squadron and received DFCs. Duncan McNaughton had been a gold medalist in the high jump event at the 1932 Olympics.
