Halifax LV865 at Snaith airfield.
On 13th May 1944 this 51 Squadron aircraft was given an airtest. Following a two hour flight the aircraft made a normal landing at Snaith but with a cross wind blowing. After running normally for around three hundred yards the tail wheel assembly broke off and the aircraft came to rest slightly damaged. The Halifax type struggled throughout it's wartime service life with the tail wheel assemblies breaking.
Pilot - F/Sgt Jack Skinner RAFVR (1332584).
