Halifax LV824 at Leconfield airfield.
During the afternoon of 27th May 1944 this 466 Squadron aircraft was flown on a training exercise. After a 1.24 hour long flight a landing was made at Leconfield at 15.54hrs but the aircraft began to enter a swung. The inexperienced pilot did not control the swing, the aircraft left the runway and the undercarriage eventually collapsed. The aircraft must have received substantial damage as no repair was carried out.
