Halifax LL612 at Snaith airfield.
During the afternoon of 25th October 1944 this 51 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to bomb Essen and took off from Snaith airfield at 12.39hrs. The crew released their bomb load from 18,500 feet at 15.49hrs. On return at Snaith at 18.23hrs the aircraft landed too fast, overshot the runway and ran through two hedges before coming to a halt with the undercarriage collapsed. The aircraft was badly damaged but all but one escaped injury.
