Halifax LL592 damaged in the air, returned to Tholthorpe airfield.
During the morning of 15th August 1944 the crew of this 420 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb a target at Brussels / Melsbroek and took off from Tholthorpe airfield at 09.36hrs. They released their bomb load onto target markers from 16,500 feet at 12.01hrs. The aeroplane was slightly damaged by a flak burst a few minutes after releasing the bomb load. Despite the damage the crew returned to Tholthorpe and landed at 13.36hrs.
