Halifax LL286 at Topcliffe airfield.

On 28th May 1944 this 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft sustained damage in some form of mishap at Topcliffe airfield. Halifax LL288 crashed at Topcliffe at 14.05hrs and while both incidents are mentioned in the No.61 Base RCAF record book it does not specifically state LL286 was damaged in the course of Halifax LL288 crashing though does suggest it. There is no AM Form 1180 for LL286 and the damage is not listed on the aeroplane's AM Form 78. This suggests the damage was only very minor, probably Cat.A. If the damage did occur in the course of LL288 crashing then it may well have been parked at a dispersal and struck.
