Halifax LL283 at Dishforth airfield.
On Saturday, 12th August 1944 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft parked on a dispersal point, was empty and was correctly marked with red warning lights. At 00.15hrs a drunk member of ground crew stole a crew bus and attempted to drive it around the airfield. The bus collided with Halifax LL283 causing minor damage. The member of groundcrew was almost certainly court martialled.
