Halifax LL245 at Croft airfield.
On 30th January 1944 this 431 Squadron aircraft was flown on a cross country training exercise lasting four hours. The aircraft landed normally at Croft at 19.41hrs but while on the moving around the airfield the pilot operated what he thought was the flap lever but was actually the undercarriage lever. The starboard undercarriage retracted and minor damage to the aircraft resulted.
Pilot - P/O Elmer Orville Johnson RCAF (J/19424).
