Halifax LL196 at Leeming airfield.

During the evening of 1st February 1944 this 429 Squadron aircraft was to have been flown on cross country training flight. On take off from Leeming at 19.30hrs with a strong cross wind blowing the aircraft began to enter a swing, the port wheel left the runway causing the swung to increase and the undercarriage collapsed. The aircraft was badly damaged and was not repaired.
