Halifax LK867 at Holme on Spalding Moor airfield.
On the night of 11th / 12th May 1944 this 76 Squadron aircraft was to have been used on an operational flight to bomb gun emplacements at Trouville, France. On take off from Holme on Spalding Moor airfield at 22.45hrs the aircraft began to swing, the pilot over-corrected the swing and eventually lost control. A ground loop resulted and the undercarriage collapsed.
