Halifax LK760 damaged in the air, further damaged at Lissett airfield.

On the night of 16th March 1944 this 158 Squadron aircraft was used to flying an operational flight to bomb Stuttgart and took off from Lissett airfield at 18.51hrs. The crew released their bomb load onto the target from 20,000 feet at 23.26hrs and two minutes after releasing the load the aircraft was slightly damaged by flak with the perspex to the mid upper turret damaged. On landing at Lissett airfield at 03.15hrs the brakes failed and the aircraft overshot the runway onto soft ground passing through a ditch which caused the tail wheel assembly to collapse. Minor damage to the aircraft resulted.
