Halifax JB919 at Riccall airfield.
On 15th February 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was stationary at Riccall airfield just prior to taking off from a night training flight when it was struck by Mosquito HK474 that was landing. The crew of the 264 Squadron Mosquito had mistaken the lighting at their home airfield of Church Fenton for that of Riccall and landed. The crew of the Halifax escaped injury but the aircraft was badly damaged and was not repaired.
