Halifax JB784 at Full Sutton airfield.

During the evening of 14th October 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was to have been flown on a circuits and landings training flight at Full Sutton airfield rather than at their parent airfield of Riccall. At 20.45hrs on take off from Full Sutton the starboard outer engine failed causing the aircraft to swing to starboard off the runway. The aircraft could not be brought under control again before the port undercarriage leg collapsed. As the aircraft came to a halt a fire broke out in the port outer engine and spread to the wing. The damage was not repaired and the aircraft was struck off charge.
