Halifax HX338 at Lissett airfield.

On 21st March 1944 this 158 Squadron aircraft was flown on a night flying training exercise. After an hour long flight the aircraft landed at Lissett at 21.05hrs but rather fast, the were applied to slow the aircraft but owing to the speed they overheated and could not stop the aircraft was running beyond the runway, down a slope and into a ditch beyond the runway. Minor damage resulted, probably undercarriage damage.
