Halifax HX332 damaged in the air, landed at Carnaby airfield.
On 15th December 1944 this 10 Squadron aircraft was flown on a mine laying flight and took off from Melbourne airfield at 15.11hrs. Outbound at 17.00hrs the aicraft was flying through thick cloud at 13,000 feet when
the aircraft encountered severe icing conditions. The broke both aerial cables and temporarily made the intercom unservicable. The crew continued and released the mines from 15,000 feet at 18.34hrs. On the flight back
home and close to the Yorkshire coast the starboard outer engine cut out so the crew diverted to land at Carnaby at 21.08hrs.
