Halifax HX327 at Melbourne airfield.

At 15.43hrs on 14th March 1944 this 10 Squadron aircraft was being taxied around Melbourne airfield prior to undertaking a local flying training exercise when the aircraft was unable to stop on the perimeter track owing to the brakes being ineffective. The AM Form 1180 for the incident is difficult to read and possibly suggests that another aircraft turned onto the perimeter track ahead of this one. The pilot of HX327 swung the aircraft off the perimeter track but it struck Halifax LV912 that was parked and empty. Minor damage to both aircraft resulted.

Pilot - F/O Eric Francis Burgess RAFVR (144935).
