Mosquito HK180 near Bolton Percy.
On 21st September 1944 the crew of this 307 Squadron aircraft were undertaking a local flying exercise around the Church Fenton area when the aircraft suffered engine failure. The aircraft lost height and before a forced landing could be made the aircraft flew into trees near Bolton Percy. The aircraft came to rest in the grounds of Bolton Lodge and caught fire. Both airmen managed to escape the flames but both sustained serious injuries. They were later treated at East Grinstead Hospital as members of what became known as the Guinea Pig Club.
