Lancaster ED567 at Lindholme airfield.
On 29th January 1944 this No.1 Lancaster Finishing School aircraft was flown on a dual instruction night training flight. The aircraft was flown on a circuit of Lindholme airfield that lasted ten minutes from take off. At 23.50hrs the aircraft bounced on landing at Lindholme and later in the landing run the tail wheel collapsed. The aircraft had been used to fly circuits and landings exercises for some time which had probably weakened an already problematic type of tail wheel strut.
