Halifax EB206 at Dishforth airfield.

During the morning of 16th March 1944 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a training exercise. At 10.14hrs the aircraft swung on landing at Dishforth and ran onto soft ground beside the runway causing the undercarriage legs to collapse, the aircraft ground looped and came to rest close to a runway intersection. Just days later on 22nd March 1944 this pilot was flying Halifax LK930 on a training flight when the aircraft crashed in Derbyshire killing three of his crew. His crew were probably the same for this earlier incident.

Pilot - Sgt Hugh Ray Collver RCAF (R/157490).
