Halifax EB195 near Lissett airfield.

On 7th February 1944 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft appears to have been using Lissett airfield to undertake a training exercise instead of their home airfield of Rufforth that was having construction work carried out. At around noon a three engined approach to land was made at Lissett, whether the aircraft actually landing is not confirmed. The aircraft may have made an overshoot with the starboard outer engine shut down as part of the flying practice. Soon after passing Lissett airfield the starboard inner engine then failed. Unable to maintain height the aircraft was force landed. The location given on the AM Form 1180 states "near Harpham Farm" but the Rufforth station orb gives it being simply as at Lissett airfield. Where Harpham Farm is or was near Lissett I have not discovered, Harpham is a few miles North-West and this may be where the landing occurred near.
