Halifax EB158 at Dishforth airfield.

During the morning of 19th February 1944 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on what would become the trainee pilot's first solo flight in a Halifax. On landing at Dishforth airfield the aircraft began to swing off the runway, the pilot attempted to correct the swing but over-corrected it resulting in one undercarriage leg collapsing. Cat.Ac damage was the assessment and it was repaired on site at Dishforth. Four days later this pilot force landed another aircraft near Newton on Derwent whilst on a training flight.
