Halifax EB155 at Rufforth airfield.
During the morning of 21st November 1944 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a circuits and landings training exercise at Rufforth airfield. At 11.02hrs an approach to land was made but at a low speed, the landing was heavy resulting in the starboard tyre bursting. A uncontrolled swing developed and the aircraft came to rest with the undercarriage collapsed.
