Halifax DT743 at Riccall airfield.
During the afternoon of 13th August 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was to have been flown on a circuits and landings training exercise at Riccall airfield. On take off from Riccall at 12.20hrs the pupil pilot lost control of the aircraft, it swung to port, left the runway and the starboard tyre burst. The instructor attempted to regain control but the undercarriage then collapsed and the aircraft came to rest badly damaged.
