On 30th June 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a fighter affiliation training exercise. With the two hour flight complete the crew returned to Riccall airfield and landed at 13.20. While taxying back to a dispersal point the brakes failed and the aircraft ran into a tree.
