Lancaster DS763 damaged in the air, returned to Linton on Ouse airfield.
On the night of 15th / 16th June 1944 the crew of this 408 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb a target at Boulogne took off from Linton on Ouse airfield at 20.54hrs. On the run in to the target the aircraft was slightly damaged by a flak burst that holed the mid upper turret perspex, two minutes later the crew released their bomb load onto target markers from 13,500 feet at 22.40hrs. Despite the damage the crew returned to Linton on Ouse and landed at 00.49hrs.
