Halifax DK226 damaged in the air, landed at Dishforth airfield.
During the early hours 16th July 1944 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a diversional "Command Bullseye" raid. There were operational sorties that were tasked with bombing various flying bomb sites on this night and I presume that the diversional flights went to other areas to confuse the enemy radar. While flying at 15,000 feet the aircraft was fired upon by an Allied aircraft (possibly another Halifax) and received damage. A Lat-Long co-ordinate for where the damage was sustained plots to mid-way between Norfolk and the Frisian Islands. Despite the damage the crew appear to have flown the aircraft back to land at Dishforth.
