Halifax DK115 at Dishforth airfield.
On the evening of 29th October 1944 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was used to fly a circuits and landings training exercise at Dishforth airfield. On landing at 21.00hrs the aircraft began to swing off the runway, the pilot attempted to correct the swing but over-corrected the swing and the port undercarriage leg gave way, buckling port wing and tearing off the port outer engine.
