Halifax DK115 at Dishforth airfield.

During the afternoon on 31st January 1944 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a basic circuits and landings exercise using Dishforth airfield. During one of the landings at 15.03hrs the landing was heavy and the tail wheel assembly broke causing damage to the underside of the tailplane. The tail wheel mountings had probably been weakened by earlier heavy landings as was the problem with Halifax tail wheel assemblies.
