Halifax DJ996 at Rufforth airfield.
On 24th April 1944 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was parked in a hanger at Rufforth airfield and being given a minor inspection. Unfortunately a strong gust of wind blew a hanger door being blown off it's rails and it struck the aircraft's nose and port wing. Minor damage to the aircraft and one of the port engines resulted. The hanger door was being worked on by three civilian contractors at the time.
No crew.
