During the afternoon on 7th February 1944 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a training flight and this involved making cross wind landings using Holme on Spalding Moor airfield. At 14.03hrs a cross wind landing was made. While the aircraft began to swing this was controlled but the aircraft was then caught by a gust of wind, it lifted the starboard wing resulting in the port wing and tail touching the ground.
