Halifax DG353 at Rufforth airfield.
During the afternoon of 13th April 1944 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a training flight. After a two hours flight the aircraft made a normal landing at Rufforth at 17.01hrs the aircraft began to swing slightly to port when the brakes were applied. The pilot over-corrected this swing so it swung to starboard and both of the aircraft's undercarriage eventually collapsed. One member of the crew sustained injuries. The damage saw the aircraft written off.
Pilot - F/Sgt Peter Stuart Wade RAAF (426719).
