Halifax DG276 at Rufforth airfield.
On the night of 20th / 21st April 1944 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was used to fly a night training flight. On landing at Rufforth at 00.30hrs following a ninety minute training flight the aircraft began taxying around the airfield. The crew were instructed to halt while taxying up one of the runways not being used for the take-offs and landings. Halifax DK194 was doing similar behind DG276 and taxied into the back of it. Neither aircraft appear to have had any lighting showing owing to believed enemy action in the area. Minor damage to this aircraft resulted.
Pilot - F/Sgt Kenneth Lawrence Long RCAF (R/159115).
