Fire at Y.A.R.D. at Clifton / Rawcliffe airfield.

On an unknown date during the War at Halifax was undergoing a fuel test when it caught fire whilst in the hanger at the Handley Page Civilian Repair Depot (YARD) at Clifton/Rawcliffe airfield. The fire destroyed nine Halifax's undergoing repair as well as gutting three hangers. Another Halifax was dragged clear by a small tractor. There were several injuries. The incident occurred where the modern day grain store was located in the Water Lane side of the old airfield. This hanger was pulled down in 2009. I would dearly like to know the date for this incident as I suspect that the York newspaper would have carried the story. The date of 14th December 1944 is suggested but there was nothing in the paper for that date period.
