Spitfire BL578 at Full Sutton airfield.
On 9th December 1944 the pilot of this 1689 Bomber (Defence) Flight forgot to lower the undercarriage on the approach to land at Full Sutton airfield. A red Aldis light was shone at him by flying control to warn him which he did not see and then went on to land at 09.55hrs. The aircraft was damaged. The unit was based at Holme on Spalding Moor airfield.
