Halifax BB274 at Topcliffe airfield.
During the afternoon of 16th May 1944 this 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a circuits and landings training exercise at Topcliffe airfield. At 18.35hrs the aircraft landed heavily at Topcliffe which broke the tail wheel oleo but the pilot appears to have been unaware of it and began to taxi around the airfield. When the aircraft came to a stop it had received damage to the rear fuselage.
