Halifax BB255 damaged by enemy aircaft, landed at Lindholme airfield.
During the early hours of 28th April 1944 this 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was being flown on a circuits and landings training exercise when a Luftwaffe Junkers Ju88 aircraft made an attack on it. The Halifax was damaged by cannon fire on the starboard fin and mainplane and also the starboard outer engine. Despite the damage the pilot landed at Lindholme at 04.25hrs. No injuries to the crew resulted.
