Unidentified Halifax at Rufforth airfield.
On 31st August 1944 an aircraft from 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit is listed in the Rufforth airfield record book as attempting to take off at 04.50hrs but overshot (almost certainly after not becoming airborne during the take off run). The incident made the airfield unservicable for landings. Unfortunately the records did not properly identify the aircraft, it is listed purely as "B-Flight - "-Q". "-Q" is also mentioned in the same record book on 29th August 1944 at 22.55hrs as landing at Rufforth following a training flight with the air speed indicator unservicable (landing too fast) the aircraft overshot. For both incidents there is no mention that "-Q" was damaged.
Crew - Names unknown.
