Unidentified Hurricane damaged in the air, landed at Dalton airfield.

On 29th October 1944 this 1695 (Bomber) Defence Training Flight aircraft collided with a flock of birds while in the air causing minor damage to the aircraft, the pilot managed to get the aircraft safely on the ground at Dalton airfield without further damage being sustained. I have yet to identify the aircraft involved, it is not quoted in the unit records.

Pilot - F/O Leonard Acton Dunn RCAF (J/18146).

Leonard Dunn was later posted to 401 Squadron on 12th April 1945 but was sadly killed on 17th April 1945 flying Spitfire ML342. He attacked a German train which blew up and the blast caught his aircraft, unfortunately he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
