Unidentified aircraft damaged in the air over Yorkshire. Landed safely.

During the afternoon of 14th March 1944 two aeroplanes were being flown from Snailwell to Silloth. 527 Squadron were based at Snailwell at the time and the aircraft were probably with their aircraft heading to Silloth to refuel before crossing to Northern Ireland or aircraft leaving Snailwell to placed into MU store at Silloth. 527 Squadron flew Hurricanes and Blenheims around this period. At around 13.30hrs the pilot of saw part of a propeller of the other fly off. This must have occurred near Wombleton airfield as he then landed there hoping that the one with the damaged propeller would land but it didn't. The damaged aeroplane proceeded to Silloth so a short time later the undamaged one took off and followed.
