Unidentified glider forced landing between Norton and Settrington.
The events surrounding this incident are not yet clear and the only reference I have located that mentions it is within a No.6 Group flying control log book. It stated that at 17.50hrs it was reported to them by No.12 Group that a glider had crashed around one and a half miles from Norton, that there were no injuries but that the aircraft required guarding so a team from Wombleton airfield were to be despatched. The reference gives a map reference which plots to being mid way between Norton and Settrington and just north of the Malton to Driffield railway line. 12 Group was a Fighter Command group in Yorkshire at the time. The glider was probably one of Slingsby's ones being test flown though more information is required to confirm this.
