Unidentified Halifax at Rufforth airfield.
On the night of 9th / 10th July 1944 this 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit was flown on a night flying exercise. At 04.32hrs the aircraft landed with the port main tyre flat and the with the port undercarriage leg not locked down, after touching down it swung off the runway though the undercarriage leg may not have fully collapsed. The unit record book only identifies the aircraft as being "C-Flight -J". There is no AM Form 1180 for a possible incident at Rufforth on this date that could relate to this incident which suggests that the leg held up.
Crew - Names unknown.
