Unidentified Spitfire at Clifton airfield.
The Clifton airfield Flying Control occurance log (AIR16/928) stated that at 09.50hrs on 10th August 1944 a Spitfire in the care of the named pilot was being given an engine test (on the ground) when it caught fire. Cpl Cronin of the airfield Fire Section put the fire out with a hand held extinguisher.
