Halifax W7883 damaged on Ops, landed at Pocklington airfield.

On the night of 12th / 13th March 1943 the crew of this 102 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to attack Essen, they took off from Pocklington at 19.22hrs and bombed the target area from 16.000 feet. While over the target area the aircraft was struck by falling incendiary bombs from a higher flying aircraft at 21.45hrs and was slightly damaged. A safe landing was made at Pocklington at 00.06hrs.
