Halifax W7820 damaged on Ops, landed at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On the night of 4th / 5th April 1943 the crew of this 76 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Kiel. They took off from Linton on Ouse at 20.54hrs and released their bomb load over the target at 23.18hrs from 17,000 feet. The aircraft was damaged by heavy flak and unfortunately the navigator and the bomb aimer sustained injuries. The aircraft was also hit from above by falling incendiary bombs from a higher flying aircraft. Despite the damage a safe landing was made at Linton on Ouse at 02.26hrs
