At 13.00hrs on 6th February 1943 this 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was taxying at Lindholme airfield following a dual instruction training flight. The pupil braked and the aircraft failed to stop, the instructor took over but the brakes still had little effect. It struck parked Halifax BB255 that was on a dispersal point but was not as far back on the hard standing as it could have been.

Halifax W7705 was built to contract B.73328/40 by Handley Page Ltd. at Radlett and was received by 18 MU before being taken on charge by 103 Squadron at Elsham Wolds on 31st July 1942. It sustained minor Cat.Ac/FB damage on Ops on 14th September 1942 and a repair on site was made. It was returned to 103 Squadron on 29th October 1942. On 30th November 1942 the aircraft was transferred to 'B' Flight of 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit at Lindholme. As a result of minor damage at Lindholme on 6th February 1943 Cat.Ac/FA damage resulted. The aircraft was repaired on site and was returned to the unit on 6th March 1943. It was damaged again at Lindholme on 26th August 1943 and again Cat.Ac/FA damage resulted that required another repair on site. It remained in 1656 H.C.U. use until failing a major inspection on 8th August 1944. It was then struck off charge on 11th August 1944.
