During the early hours of 3rd August 1943 this 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was bring used to fly a night circuits and landings exercise. After one ten minute flight the aircraft landed at Lindholme at 03.31hrs but burst the main starboard tyre, the aircraft then swung off the runway and skidded sideways causing the port undercarriage leg to collapse.
