During the morning of 20th July 1943 this No.6 AACU aircraft was flown on a flight so that the pilot could undertake a weather check. He took off from Hutton Cranswick airfield at 10.15hrs and after 45 minutes flying the aircraft developed a violent vibration. The pilot believed that a cylinder was missing on the starboard engine. He made a safe landing at Hutton Cranswick. The wording of the unit orb that the engine was "missing" a cylinder may mean that it had fallen off or simply that the cylinder wasn't producing a spark.
Pilot - F/O F Buchanan RCAF.
