On 3rd July 1943 this aircraft is mentioned in the 2 (C)OTU unit record book as being fired upon by guns on board a ship or ships in a convoy. The aircraft sustained damage to the elevator, oil tanks, engine controls and the aircraft nose. The pilot almost certainly made a safe landing at base of Catfoss airfield.
