Beaufighter T5139 at Catfoss airfield.
On 15th May 1943 this 2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit aircraft swung on take off from Catfoss airfield and sustained damage. The unit ORB gives the state of the damage as being to both undercarriages, the mainplane, under portion of fuselage, both propellers and both engines being shockloaded.

Beaufighter T5139 was built to contract B.41906/39 by Fairey Aviation Ltd. at Heaton Chapel, Stockport and was awaiting collection in May 1942. The aircraft was initially taken on charge by 248 Squadron at Dyce. It then moved with the unit to Talbenny on 13th September 1942, Pembrey on 2nd November 1942, back to Talbenny on 4th December 1942 and Predannack on 18th January 1943. The transfer date to 2 (c)O.T.U. at Catfoss is not yet known. As a result of the mishap on 15th May 1943 Cat.Ac/FA damage was the damage assessment and the aircraft was repaired on site. The aircraft remained with the unit until around the time the unit disbanded on 15th February 1944. The aircraft was then placed into long term MU storage until being struck off charge on 31st January 1946.
